In The Begining...

Ardneil garage was bought by Dick MacNicol in 1955. Dick was an aircraft engineer and had also been in the Automobile Association. He started up business at the South Beach Garage, Troon before moving to Ardneil.

The firm quickly moved on from repairs to obtaining the STANDARD TRIUMPH Agencies and shortly after JAGUAR. The other operations included Taxis and Hire Drive. Ardneil gained a enviable reputation in the 1960's througout Ayrshire for supplying quality vehicles and superb workmanship.

The sons Ronald and John joined the company and quickly became involved. Dick MacNicol went on to add other outlets to his company, purchasing a garage in the North of Scotland, Loch Watten Garage, Caithness, and the Marine & Bogend garage in Yorke Road, Troon.

The Daihatsu Connection...
Dick retired in 1980 and John became the Managing Director & still is today. At that time the Japanese influence in motoring was on the increase, and Ardneil took on DAIHATSU which is still held today. The Daihatsu franchise offered reliability which has since become legendary, and the business has progressed with currently the best small car range available from a single manufacturer that can be bought anywhere.
